Jamie Oliver seems to be on a mission to save our bacon. Is it too little too late for farming in the UK. Supermarkets tell us they are driven by what we the consumer wants - which means cheaper food, produced in even greater quantities than ever before. Haven't we as a nation lost the plot?
As an owner of a small business selling high quality produce it's very difficult to stand out from the crowd. People want cheap food. Cheap food doesn't equate to quality. We try to source products that are made by real people - people who love what they do and aim to produce the best quality product - that doesn't come cheap.
We're now in a global recession. It's all the more important now that as a nation we support local producers and local shops.
