Soon I will be in South Africa. I've never been before so it will be a bit of an adventure in that sense. But there's a reason for going, and that's to see first hand what Hands at Work do to help the poor and orphaned in Southern Africa, and hopefully to at least help in some small way.
Hands at Work's mission is to help 100,000 orphaned and vulnerable children by 2010. They work in local communities throughout southern Africa, caring for orphans by providing meals, homework support & mentoring. Hands at Work train volunteers in the communities to care for the dying, and help them plan for their childrens' future.
Hands at Work links with churches in other countries, getting them involved in the work, and supporting Hands at Work in local communities in Africa.
Locks Heath Free Church has linked with Hands at Work and has been partnered with the community of Belfast in South Africa.
