Our last visit to Belfast this trip. A workshop on compassion and love. Pastor Mark taught the ladies from the parable of the good Samaritan (with slight modification to contextualise), which brought much laughter from the ladies.
It was good to meet with them one last time as we were able to encourage them in the work they are doing, and they were able to express their happiness at our visitng them.
In Western culture we are much more geared up to "do" things, and whilst we would have liked to have done more, the simply fact that we visited them and were able to affirm and support them was a very worthwhile exercise.
They are encouraged that the fence will be going up again and pleased that we are not bailing out of the project because of the set-backs.
A valuable and worthwhile visit.
Hands at Work will shortly be launching a campaign to encourage people to give £15 per month, which is basically the cost of providing basic care for one child. Check out their website www.handsatwork.org for more information.
